MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield boys soccer team posted its third-straight win, finishing with a 3-0 nonconference shutout of Onalaska on Tuesday night at Heiting Community Stadium.

Keegan Fredrick scored off an assist from Mason Horn at the 15:32 mark and Matthew Uphoff added a goal off an assist from Fredrick 4½ minutes later to give Marshfield (3-1-3) a 2-0 lead.

Fredrick netted his second goal with 4:13 to go in the first half, with Uphoff assisting, to make it 3-0.

Neither team scored in the second half as the Tigers’ defense was on point. Goalkeeper Kai Rens had to make just one save against the Hilltoppers (2-5-2).

“I am really happy with the way our defenders played today,” Marshfield coach Jeff Molter said. “Landon (Lee), JJ (Steinbach), Dirk (Vanderwyst), Joey (Ketterer) and Afton (Hamill) did a nice job tonight limiting the advantages of Onalaska.”

Marshfield will enjoy the rest of the week off and be back in action Tuesday, Sept. 24, at home against Wausau East in a Wisconsin Valley Conference match.
