Columbus Catholic’s Scheer takes first at Neillsville Cross Country Invitational

NEILLSVILLE – Marshfield Columbus Catholic senior Isaac Scheer posted another win, his third in eight days, as he placed first at the Neillsville Cross Country Invitational on Tuesday at Levis-Trow Mounds Recreation Area.

Scheer won the 5-kilometer boys race in 16:53.6, more than one minute faster than runner-up Logan Peters of Marathon. Scheer also won the Marshfield Tiger Invitational on Sept. 10 and the Colby/Abbotsford Invite last Saturday.

Nathan Scheer added a sixth-place finish for the Dons, who placed fourth in the team standings with 111 points. Marathon won the team title with 43 points, while Auburndale and Spencer had incomplete squads.

Auburndale’s top runner was James Binder, who placed 29th in 20:28.4.

Spencer was led by Camdyn Vogel, who was 45th in 21:48.5.

Anna Fronk of Bangor won the girls race in 20:42.7 as the Cardinals earned the team title with 61 points. Auburndale took third with 73, while Spencer and Columbus Catholic had incomplete squads.

Rose Hasenohrl took third in 21:39.2 and Luise Meyer was fourth in 21:48.6 as the Auburndale girls had a strong showing.

Abby Wojcik had a seventh-place finish in 22:04.5 and Abigail Schuld placed 12th in 23:38.9 for Columbus Cahtolic.

Ariana Krueger was Spencer’s top runner, taking 69th in 29:22.3.
