WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Marshfield boys soccer team had its three-game winning streak snapped as the Tigers suffered a 4-3 nonconference loss to Appleton West on Saturday at the Wisconsin Rapids Quad at Lincoln High School.
Marshfield’s second game against Neenah was stopped due to lightning in the 27th minute with the Tigers lead 1-0 and the game did not resume, resulting in a cancellation.
Appleton West scored first in the opening game, with Marshfield tying the score just before halftime on a goal from Aaron Ongna. Dillon McHugh assisted.
The Tigers pulled ahead with a pair of goals in the opening six minutes of the second half as Keegan Fredrick ad Matthew Uphoff scored, both on assists from Ongna.
Marshfield would not score again and Appleton West (4-4-2) scored three times in the final eight minutes to pull out the win.
The Tigers (3-2-3) hosts Wausau East on Tuesday and Wausau West on Thursday. Both games at Heiting Community Stadium will start at 7 p.m.
