Columbus Catholic volleyball pulls out tight match over Colby

MARSHFIELD – The Columbus Catholic girls volleyball team held off a stingy Colby squad to win a Cloverbelt Conference East Division match 3-1 on Thursday night at Columbus Catholic High School.

The Dons survived 28-26, 28-30, 25-22, 25-19, improving to 3-0 in the Cloverbelt East. Colby drops to 2-1 in conference play.

Alayna Egle had a team-high 41 assists, Delia Trader led the defense with 27 digs, and Shelby Spata had 24 kills and 17 digs for Columbus Catholic.

Aubrey Waldhauser added 14 kills, Gracie Wilczek had 17 digs, six kills and six service aces, and Abby Kibbel contributed eight kills in the four-set win for the Dons.

Columbus Catholic will be back in action Tuesday at Greenwood.
