Marshfield girls tennis drops WVC finale to Wisconsin Rapids

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Marshfield girls tennis team wrapped up its Wisconsin Valley Conference dual meet season with a 5-2 loss to Wisconsin Rapids on Thursday at Lincoln High School.

Marshfield finishes the regular season with a 4-2 record in the WVC and heads into the conference tournament on Oct. 3 at Wausau East tied for third with Stevens Point with 56 points. Wisconsin Rapids now has 66 points, two in back of Wausau West.

Marshfield’s two wins came from No. 4 singles player Halle Rachu, who won 6-2, 6-0, and the No. 2 doubles team of Aubrey Layton and Audrey Luedtke, who posted a 7-5, 6-1, victory.
