AUBURNDALE – After an early Stevens Point Pacelli touchdown, Auburndale ripped off 37 unanswered points and cruised to a 43-14 victory over the Cardinals on Friday night at Auburndale High School.
Quarterback Black Raab threw for 180 yards and four touchdowns, and Nathan Van Wyhe and Colton Weiler added rushing touchdowns for the Eagles, who are now 5-1 overall and 3-1 in the Central Wisconsin Conference Small Division.
Van Wyhe raced 45 yards for a touchdown and Weiler plowed one in from the 3 to erase Pacelli’s early lead and put Auburndale on top 14-7 after the first quarter.
Raab connected for two TD passes to Peyton Weinfurter, a third to Trevor Trowbridge, and booted a 27-yard field goal to up the Eagles’ lead to 37-7 by halftime.
Raab finished off his big night with his fourth touchdown pass, this time to Nathan Richardson from 22 yards out, in the third quarter.
Auburndale had a balanced attack as it also rushed for 179 yards on just 22 carries, led by Van Wyhe’s 77 yards on only four totes. Weiler pitched in 61 yards on the ground.
Auburndale will head to undefeated Abbotsford next Friday, Oct. 4, for a big CWC Small game. The Falcons moved to 6-0 and 4-0 in the conference with a resounding 56-20 win over Pittsville on Friday.
