Columbus Catholic, Marshfield, Stratford net top-10 finishes at Nightfall Cross Country Classic 715

MARSHFIELD – Marshfield Columbus Catholic senior Issac Scheer finished second overall and first in the Small Division at the Nightfall Classic 715 cross country meet on Friday night at RiverEdge Golf Course.

More than 400 runners competed in boys and girls races under the lights, with scores broken into Large and Small school dvisions.

Owen Stuwe of Shakopee (Minn.) won the boys race in 15:37.90, with Scheer a close second in 15:52.51.

Marshfield’s Owen Hoerneman placed eighth in 16:53.95 in the Large Division and Columbus Catholic’s Nathan Scheer finished 10th in 17:13.53 in the Small Division final standings.

Stratford’s Cree DeFoe placed ninth in the Small Division in 16:49.36 to top the Stratford boys.

In the girls 5-kilometer race, Wisconsin Rapids Assumption’s Lucy Dolan was the overall win in 18:44.54, with Lauren McCalla of Menomonie finishing first in the Large Division in 18:54.74.

Marshfield’s Natalie Scharenbroch was seven in the Large Division in 20:01.44, while Adeline Lonsdale took 18th in 21:14.56 and Natalie Schmitt 20th in 21:22.23 for the Tigers.

Stratford’s Kayla Casperson netted an eighth-place finish in the Small Division, running in 19:59.63.

Menomonie (Large Division) and Phillips (Small Division) won both the boys and girls team titles.
