Neillsville outlasts Spencer volleyball in five-set thriller

SPENCER – Neillsville was able to pull out a fifth-set tiebreaker and defeat Spencer 3-2 in a tightly-contested Cloverbelt Conference East Division volleyball match Tuesday night at Spencer High School.

Neillsville won 17-25, 26-24, 25-22, 20-25, 15-7, improving to 2-2 in the Cloverbelt East. Spencer is now 1-3.

Carmen Krause had 19 kills, Alexa Stange finished with 30 digs, and Chloe Timm had 32 assists to lead Spencer.

Ema Schultz and Emma Nieman each added 11 kills, and Alexa Weber contributed 16 digs as well for the Rockets.

Spencer will play at first-place Marshfield Columbus Catholic on Thursday at 7:15 p.m.
