ONALASKA – Marshfield sophomore Lexxi Oertel and senior McKenzie Holm earned individual sectional berths with top-10 finishes at a WIAA Division 1 girls golf regional on Wednesday at The Golf Club of Cedar Creek.
The top four teams and top four individuals not on those teams qualify for a D-1 sectional at Hiawatha Golf Course in Tomah on Monday. Oertel finished fifth with a 92 and Holm tied for seventh with a 96 to earn the top two individual sectional spots. La Crosse Central/Logan’s Elena Wagner (100) and Siena Folkers (103) grabbed the other two sectional berths.
Marshfield came up three strokes short in the team standings, finishing fifth with a 403. Tomah (360), Holmen (383), Onalaska (391) and Wisconsin Rapids (400) earned the top four spots and the sectional berths.
Brielle Lenz shot 106, Kylie Laufenberg had a 109 and Lauren Boon had a 115 to round out Marshfield’s scoring.
The top two teams and top three individual finishers not on the qualifying teams will qualify for the 2024 WIAA State Girls Golf Tournament at University Ridge Golf Club in Madison on Oct. 14-15.
