Marshfield girls tennis shares title at Wisconsin Valley Conference Tournament

WAUSAU – Marshfield won three flight titles and tied Wisconsin Rapids for first place at the 2024 Wisconsin Valley Conference Girls Tennis Tournament on Thursday at Wausau East High School.

Halle Rachu won the No. 4 singles title, and the No. 2 doubles team of Audrey Luedtke and Aubrey Layton, and the No. 3 doubles team of Madeline Kloos and Sophia Rosandich won conference championships for the Tigers.

Combining points earned from the regular-season dual meet schedule, Wisconsin Rapids and Wausau West ended up tied for the WVC title with 95 points, with Marshfield third with 85. The third-place overall finish is Marshfield’s best since placing third in 2015.

Talia Soskos at No. 3 singles and the No. 1 doubles team of Lucy Luedtke and Isabel Krueger earned runner-up finishes for the Tigers.

Marshfield will compete at a WIAA Division 1 subsectional on Monday at Rhinelander. The sectional meet is Wednesday at the Menard Tennis Center in Eau Claire.
