MARATHON – Stratford jumped on Marathon early and never let up, rolling to a 49-0 win in a Central Wisconsin Conference Large Division football game Friday night at Marathon High School.

The Tigers scored three times in the opening quarter, led 29-0 at halftime and put away their seventh-straight win to start the 2024 season with a dominating second half as well.

Brooks Vanderhoof and Jett Schoenherr each scored a pair of touchdowns for Stratford (7-0, 5-0 CWC Large). Click here to view the Central Wisconsin Conference Large Division football standings

Quarterback Jack Tubbs threw touchdown passes of 8 yards to Schoenherr and 8 yards to Cayden Leonhardt, Reid Miller added a 36-yard TD run and Schoenherr also returned a punt 31 yards for a score as the Tigers had little trouble moving the ball, or stopping Marathon (2-5, 1-4 CWC Large).

Stratford will host Amherst (7-0, 5-0 CWC Large) for the conference title on Oct. 11 at Tiger Stadium. The Falcons pulled out a 25-21 win over Weyauwega-Fremont on Friday, scoring the winning touchdown on the final play of the game.
