Columbus Catholic volleyball sweeps Loyal, wraps up eighth-straight Cloverbelt East championship

MARSHFIELD – The Columbus Catholic volleyball team is Cloverbelt Conference East Division champions again.

The Dons swept Loyal 25-18, 25-15, 25-20, on Thursday night at Columbus Catholic High School, finishing off their eighth-straight Cloverbelt East title.

Columbus Catholic has won 39-straight conference matches dating back to a loss to Loyal in 2019 and wraps up this season with a perfect 7-0 record in the Cloverbelt East.

Shelby Spata had 10 kills and nine digs, Gracie Wilczek added nine kills and 10 digs, and Aubrey Waldhauer chipped in eight blocks for the Dons.

Alayna Egle had 21 assists, Sophie Wilczek finished with 18 assists, and Delia Trader led the Columbus defense with 30 digs.

Columbus Catholic will compete at the La Crosse Logan Invitational on Saturday before finishing its regular season at home against Eau Claire Regis on Thursday, Oct. 17, in the Cloverbelt Conference Crossover first-place game.
