LA CROSSE – The Columbus Catholic volleyball team won three of four matches to finish third out of 16 teams at the La Crosse Logan Invitational on Saturday.

Columbus Catholic defeated Plainview-Elgin-Millville (Minn.) 25-10, 25-22, Westby 29-27, 25-18, and Independence/Gilmanton 25-15, 25-16, before suffering a 28-26, 25-23, loss to Cotter (Minn.).

Shelby Spata had 37 kills and 32 digs, Aubrey Waldhauser added 19 kills and four service aces, and Alayna Egle finished with 46 assists, 14 digs and four aces for the Dons.

Gracie Wilczek ended up with a team-best 39 digs, and also had 12 kills and six aces, Sophie Wilczek finished with 30 assists and 10 aces, and Delia Trader had 27 digs as well for Columbus Catholic.

Columbus Catholic will host Eau Claire Regis for the first-place match of the Cloverbelt Conference Crossovers on Thursday to finish its regular-season schedule.
