Columbus Catholic soccer shuts out Gresham/Bowler, finishes off outright CWC title

GRESHAM – The Columbus Catholic soccer team clinched the outright Central Wisconsin Conference championship with a dominant 8-0 rout of Gresham/Bowler on Thursday.

Cade Jansen finished with four goals, and Mason Edwards, Brady Zimmermann, Daxtyn Wenzel and Rocco Maher also scored for the Dons, who finish the regular season with a 16-3-2 record and an 11-1 mark in the CWC.

The goals for Wenzel and Maher were their first in their careers.

Jansen, Ezra Duda and Rose Bergs all had assists for the Dons.

Columbus Catholic will host a WIAA Division 4 regional semifinal on Thursday, Oct. 24, against the winner of Tuesday’s quarterfinal between Adams-Friendship and Tri-County. The game, at Griese Park, will start at 4 p.m.
