Auburndale volleyball downs Pacelli in WIAA Division 4 regional final

STEVENS POINT – The Auburndale volleyball team is heading to sectionals after a 3-1 win over Stevens Point Pacelli in a WIAA Division 4 regional final Saturday night at Pacelli High School.

The third-seeded Eagles won 25-22, 19-25, 25-18, 25-23, to advance to a D-4 sectional semifinal at No. 1 seed Pittsville on Thursday. Auburndale swept Pittsville in a nonconference match to end the regular season on Oct. 17.

Wabeno/Laona and Edgar will meet in the other sectional semifinal, with the winners playing each other on Saturday, Nov. 2, at Crivitz for a berth in the 2024 WIAA State Girls Volleyball Tournament in Green Bay.

Lily Bellanti had 13 kills and 16 digs, Kylie Anderson had 18 digs, Alana Steines added seven kills and Jaylnn Scherr had 20 assists to lead Auburndale.

Chesney Nagel added 15 digs, 13 assists and six kills, and Myah Katzenberger and Sidney Wolff also had six kills each for the Eagles.

Auburndale reached the regional final with a 3-0 semifinal victory over Manawa on Thursday. The Eagles won 25-17, 25-16, 25-17.

Nagel had 21 assists, Bellanti had eight kills and 14 digs, Steines had eight kills, and Katzenberger added seven kills in the victory.
