Pittsville rallies to defeat Auburndale in WIAA Division 4 girls volleyball sectional semifinal

PITTSVILLE – Top-seed Pittsville rallied after dropping the first set by winning the next three and downing Auburndale 3-1 in a WIAA Division 4 girls volleyball sectional semifinal Thursday night at Pittsville High School.

Pittsville won 19-25, 25-20, 25-20, 28-26, to advance to a Division 4 sectional final against Wabeno/Laona on Saturday at Crivitz High School. The winner advances to next week’s WIAA State Girls Volleyball Tournament in Green Bay.

Sidney Wolff had 18 kills, Kylie Anderson finished with 31 digs, and Chesney Nagel had 24 assists to lead Auburndale in each category.

Lily Bellanti added 10 kills and 18 digs, Jaylnn Scherr had 21 assists and 14 digs, and Nagel also finished with 26 digs for the Eagles, who finish the season with a 19-14 record.
