WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Marshfield Columbus Catholic senior Isaac Scheer placed fifth and his brother, sophomore Nathan Scheer took 42nd in the Division 3 boys race at the 2024 WIAA State Cross Country Championships on Saturday at Ridges Golf Course.
Isaac Scheer, making his fourth-straight run at state, earned his best finish, taking fifth in 16:18.1, 25½ seconds off the winning pace of 15:52.7 set by Declan Gregg of La Crosse Aquinas. Scheer placed sixth last year with a near exact time of 16:18.4.
Nathan Scheer, who was at state for the second year in a row, ran in 17:23.9, which was 31 seconds better than last year when he placed 63rd.
Stratford qualified for a team in the Division 3 field and placed 10th among the 16 squads with 225 points. Cedar Grove-Belgium was the team champion with 98 points, with Prentice/Rib Lake second with 126.
Stratford senior Cree DeFoe earned an 11th-place finish in his third trip to state, running in 16:34.8 to lead the Tigers.
Ethan Heeg placed 53rd in 17:42.6, Jayden DeFoe was 101st (18:35.7), Cooper Bomans was right behind in 102nd (18:37.6), Christopher Stuttgen finished 110th (18:47.4), Joey Cable took 120th (19:05.9) and Derek Wiese was 141st (19:50.3) for Stratford among the 151 total runners.

Division 1 girls: Neenah; Ella Anshutz, Muskego 18:04.5.
Division 2 girls: University School of Milwaukee; Emmerson Drobac, Deerfield/Cambridge 17:38.9.
Division 3 girls: Kohler; Mallory Kohn, Dodgeland 18:08.4.
Division 1 boys: Stevens Point; Manny Putz, Onalaska 15:07.5.
Division 2 boys: Kohler; Jack Hefty, Whitewater 15:46.5.
