Vote now for the Schierl Tire October High School Athlete of the Month

It is time to vote for the Schierl Tire High School Athlete of the Month for October.

MarshfieldAreaSports.com and Zaleski Sports serve as co-sponsors of the award, which is in its 12th year.

Varsity athletes from the following high schools are eligible to be nominated for the award, which will be given out monthly from September 2024 through June 2025: Abbotsford, Assumption, Auburndale, Colby, Columbus Catholic, Edgar, Granton, Greenwood, Loyal, Marathon, Marshfield, Mosinee, Neillsville, Pacelli, Pittsville, Port Edwards, Spencer, Stratford, Stevens Point and Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln.

Online voting will take place from 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4, through 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, at MarshfieldAreaSports.com. The winner of the October Athlete of the Month will be announced on Nov. 8 and will be presented an award. Voting is limited to one vote per day, resetting each day.

The winners of the Schierl Tire Boys and Girls Athlete of the Year will be announced in early July.

Winners of the Athlete of the Month awards are ineligible to be nominated again during that particular sports season.

All decisions regarding voting and nominations made by MarshfieldAreaSports.com and Zaleski Sports are final.

The nominees for the October award are:

*Alayna Egle, Columbus Catholic volleyball. Egle, a junior, garnered her 1,000th career assist with 23 in the Dons’ Division 5 regional final win over Athens on Oct. 26. She had a team-high 25 assists in the Dons’ sectional semifinal win over Gilman on Oct. 31, 16 assists in a regional semifinal victory over Augusta on Oct. 24, and racked up 46 in four matches at the La Crosse Logan Invitational on Oct. 12.

*Luke Eiden, Pacelli cross country. Eiden, a junior, won the Central Wisconsin Conference Cross Country Meet at Weyauwega-Fremont High School on Oct. 17, running the 5-kilometer course in 16:17.2. Eiden finished second at a WIAA Division 2 sectional at Waupaca High School on Oct. 25, running in 16:15.2 to qualify for the WIAA State Cross Country Championships on Nov. 2.

*Keegan Fredrick, Marshfield boys soccer and football. Fredrick, a senior, scored 12 goals and had four assists in October, including one in the Tigers’ regional final shootout win over Holmen on Oct. 26. Fredrick surpassed 100 career points on Oct. 11, and scored both of Marshfield’s goal, including the game-winner in the final minute of overtime, in the Tigers’ regional semifinal victory over Onalaska on Oct. 22. As the Marshfield football team’s kicker, Fredrick had eight extra points and a pair of field goals in October, including a school-record 49-yard field goal in a win over Eau Claire North on Oct. 11.

*Blake Raab, Auburndale football. Raab, a senior quarterback/defensive backs for the Eagles, threw for nine touchdowns and ran for three more in Auburndale’s four victories in October. Raab completed 15 of 21 passes for 153 yards and three scores in a Level 1 playoff win over Westfield on Oct. 25, and threw for 160 yards and tossed four TD passes, which rushing for another in the Eagles’ regular-season finale against Iola-Scandinavia on Oct. 18. Raab has 21 touchdowns passes and scored nine TDs rushing this season.

*Kalyn Schueller, Stratford volleyball. Schueller, a senior, passed 1,000 digs for her career in a victory on Oct. 9 over Wisconsin Rapids. She has continuously led the Tigers in kills throughout the season, piling up 16 in a sectional semifinal loss to Prescott on Oct. 31, 11 in a regional final win over Durand-Arkansaw on Oct. 26 and 13 in the Tigers’ regional semifinal victory over Stanley-Boyd on Oct. 24.

*Addysen Wolf, Loyal volleyball. Wolf, a junior, is the top hitter for the Greyhounds, helping them reach the WIAA sectionals. Wolf has 333 kills this season, including 26 in a regional final win over Eleva-Strum on Oct. 26, and a season-high 27 in a victory over Gilman on Oct. 1.
