Marshfield’s Fredrick picked as Wisconsin Valley Conference Boys Soccer Player of the Year

Marshfield senior midfielder Keegan Fredrick was named Player of the Year and was one of three Tigers to earn spots on the 2024 All-Wisconsin Valley Conference Boys Soccer Team, as voted on by the seven conference coaches following the season.

Fredrick was joined by teammate Matthew Uphoff as first-team selections, and senior Dillon McHugh was an honorable mention selection for Marshfield, which finished 3-4-2 in Wisconsin Valley Conference play and 7-8-5 overall after reaching the WIAA Division 2 sectional semifinals.

Fredrick finished third in the conference in goals with 11 and also had four assists for the Tigers, while Uphoff had two goals and five assists in WVC play.

Wisconsin Rapids goalkeeper Hayden Piesik, and defenders Sean Roenius and Jordan Szelagowski, Stevens Point midfielder Eli Chang, D.C. Everest forward Hezekiah Mletzko, and midfielders Jacob Gissel and Sam Kasten, and Wausau West forward Tyler Foster, midfielder T.J. Sondelski and defender Alexander Voight were also named to the first team.

Foster and Mletzko, both unanimous first-team selections, tied for the WVC lead in goals with 17 each.

Piesik had an .810 save percentage, finishing second in the conference with 64 overall saves.
