Marshfield girls basketball drops season-opener at Eau Claire North

EAU CLAIRE – The Marshfield girls basketball team shot just 34 percent from the field and dropped a 57-49 decision to Eau Claire North in its season-opener Thursday at North High School.

Eau Claire North, also playing its first game of the season, outscored the Tigers by four points in each half to prevail as Marshfield missed 12 of 22 free throw attempts and were only 17-for-49 shooting from the floor.

Senior guard Zaida Kolbeck hit three 3-pointers and scored a team-high 20 points, and McKenzie Holm chipped in 10 for Marshfield. Emma Ridgway also had eight points and six rebounds for the Tigers.

Marshfield will play another road game Tuesday at Neenah.
