AUBURNDALE – The Auburndale girls basketball team held Wausau Newman Catholic to just four made baskets in the entire game and rolled to a 65-15 win in its Marawood Conference South Division opener Tuesday at Auburndale High School.
The Eagles (2-0 overall) cruised out to a 38-10 lead by halftime and held Newman Catholic (0-2 overall and Marawood South) to one basket in the second half to finish off the victory.
Auburndale finished with nine 3-pointers, including three each from Lily Bellanti and Rose Hasenohrl, who finished with 13 and 11 points, respectively. Kylie Anderson chipped in 10 in the win.
Aubrey Puent made five of seven free throw attempts and had 10 points to lead Newman Catholic.
Auburndale will return to action next Tuesday, Dec. 3, at home against Almond-Bancroft.
