Columbus Catholic boys basketball pulls past Rib Lake to win opener

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic boys basketball team opened its 2024-25 campaign with a 53-37 nonconference win over Rib Lake on Tuesday night at Columbus Catholic High School.

The defending Division 5 state champion Dons trailed 21-20 at halftime before outscoring Rib Lake by 17 points in the second half to finish off the victory.

Mac Konieczny scored 23 points and Carter Sommer added 11 for Columbus Catholic.

The Dons will play at Wisconsin Rapids Assumption on Friday in the first game of the Cranberry Classic, and will take on either Nekoosa or Port Edwards on Saturday.
