Spencer boys basketball holds on late to defeat Chequamegon

SPENCER – Sam Bezlyk scored 17 of his team-high 23 points in the second half as the Spencer boys basketball team held on for a 65-60 victory over Chequamegon to open up its season Tuesday night at the Spencer Dome.

Spencer led 25-23 at halftime and were able to hold on to a slight lead at the end, putting up 40 points in the second half.

Ben Felgner added 15 points in the win for the Rockets.

Cooper Michalski finished with 27 points to lead Chequamegon.

Spencer will travel to Northland Lutheran for another nonconference contest on Monday.
