Marshfield boys hockey drops opener to Baldwin-Woodville

BALDWIN – Brody Everts netted the game-winner midway through the third period as Baldwin-Woodville defeated Marshfield 3-2 in the Tigers’ boys hockey team’s season-opener Tuesday at the United Civic Center.

Owen Hoerneman scored for Marshfield in the second period and assisted, along with Connor Stefanski, on a goal by Joey Cashmer in the second as the Tigers fought back twice to tie the game.

Only 1:11 after Cashmer’s goal tied it at 2-2, Everts knocked in his second goal of the game to put the Hawks (2-0) up 3-2 with 10:28 left and the score held the rest of the way.

Rahul Dissanayake had 24 saves in goal for Marshfield.

Marshfield will play Tomah/Sparta at the Tomah Invitational on Friday.
