WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Columbus Catholic boys basketball team earned a pair of wins to take the title at the Cranberry Classic at Assumption High School.
The Dons held on to defeat Wisconsin Rapids Assumption 48-44 on Friday before a dominating 62-31 victory over Port Edwards in the championship game on Saturday night.
Ben Weiland scored 12 points and Carter Sommer added 10 in the Dons’ victory over Assumption.
In the championship game, Mac Konieczny had 19 points, Weiland 13 and Sommer 12 as Columbus Catholic improves to 3-0 this season.
Columbus Catholic will host Chippewa Falls McDonell for a nonconference game Thursday at 7:15 p.m.
