WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Marshfield Columbus Catholic girls basketball team rebounded from a loss on Friday to rout Nekoosa and finish third at the Cranberry Classic at Assumption High School.
The Dons lost to Wisconsin Rapids Assumption 66-31 on Friday before cruising to a 51-11 win over Nekoosa on Saturday to improve to 2-1 this season.
Chayse Blenker, Gracie Wilczek and Sophie Wilczek each had six points for Columbus Catholic in the loss to Assumption.
Freshman Izzy Holz had a big game against Nekoosa with 14 points, seven rebounds, five assists and nine steals, and Sophie Wilczek finished with a team-high 16 points for the Dons as she outscored Nekoosa by herself.
Hailey Hargraves chipped in six points and 15 rebounds in Columbus’ victory.
Columbus Catholic will open its Cloverbelt Conference East Division season at Spencer on Tuesday.
