STRATFORD – The Stratford girls basketball team clamped down defensively as it overcame a poor shooting night to defeat Wabeno/Laona 43-28 in a nonconference game Tuesday at Stratford High School.
The Tigers (3-0) shot only 30 percent (15-for-50) from the field, but held Wabeno/Laona (1-3) to only 11 made field goals to win going away.
Laney Pankratz and MyKayla Stueber each made three 3-pointers and scored 11 points, and junior Tria Tubbs added 11 points and eight rebounds in the win for Stratford.
Allison Albrecht scored 12 points for the Rebels to lead all scorers.
Stratford will play a Marawood Conference crossover game at Prentice on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
