Marshfield boys hockey drops Wisconsin Valley Conference opener to Wausau West

MARSHFIELD – Wausau West scored five times in the opening period and went on to a 9-1 win over Marshfield in the Wisconsin Valley Conference boys hockey opener for both teams on Tuesday at the Marshfield Area Ice Arena.

Xander Debyle had a pair of goals on his way to a hat trick for the Warriors (2-1 overall).

Cooper Depuydt scored twice and had two assists, and Drake Kuharske scored the game’s first goal and assisted on three others for Wausau West.

Marshfield’s only goal came from Alex Chen late in the first period.

Rahul Dissanayke finished with 31 saves in goal for the Tigers (0-4 overall), who were outshot 40-10 overall.

Marshfield travels to Medford for a nonconference game Friday at 7 p.m.
