PRENTICE – The Stratford boys basketball team held off Prentice to win a Marawood Conference crossover game 68-66 on Friday night at Prentice High School.
The Tigers (2-0, 1-0 Marawood Conference South Division) outscored Prentice (2-1, 0-1 Marawood North) by one point in each half to escape with the two-point victory.
Stratford led by seven with about one minute to go and missed four free throws down the stretch, but was able to hold on.
Drew Bruesewitz had 20 points and seven rebounds, Brooks Vanderhoof added 16 points, and Jett Schoenherr chipped in 13 in the win for Stratford.
Vanderhoof was 8-for-8 from the free throw line as the Tigers finished 21-for-31 overall at the charity stripe.
Stratford will play another Marawood crossover at home against Athens on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.
