OWEN – Spencer cruised out to a 31-11 halftime lead on its way to a 54-35 rout of Owen-Withee in a Cloverbelt Conference boys basketball game on Thursday night at Owen-Withee High School.
The win is the Rockets’ fourth in a row and allows them to climb back to the .500 mark at 7-7 overall and 6-6 in the Cloverbelt East. O-W falls to 3-11, 2-9 in conference.
Steven Gilboy had 15 points and nine rebounds, and Wyatt Phillips had 18 points and six boards for the Rockets. Phillips was 8 of 8 from the free-throw line, while Gilboy was 7 of 8 as the Rockets held a 17-7 advantage from the free-throw line.
Spencer shot 44 percent from the field (17 of 39) and held sizeable advantages in rebounding (39-26) and inside, by scoring 26 points in the paint.
Brandon Bredlau had 13 points to lead Owen-Withee, which lost for the third-straight time after winning three of four.
The Rockets host Marshfield Columbus Catholic on Tuesday.
