STEVENS POINT – The Wisconsin Valley Union girls hockey team scored four times in the opening period and went on to defeat the Badger Lightning (Baraboo Co-op) 7-4 on Saturday at Ice Hawks Ice Arena.

Reese Simcakoski and Jenna Jones each scored twice for Wisconsin Valley, which is now 3-1 this season.

Molly Fox, Ellie Czaikowski and Amelia Castleberg also added goals in the win for the Union.

Wisconsin Valley held a 33-13 shot advantage, with goalie Issie Wojcik saving nine shots for the Union.

The Union will be back in action at the Lakeshore Lightning for an Eastern Shores Conference game on Saturday, Dec. 14 at Ozaukee Ice Center in Mequon.
