ELROY – The Spencer/Columbus Catholic/Granton wrestling team opened its 2024-25 season at the Royall Invitational on Saturday.
The Spencer boys team placed eighth out of 16 teams, while the girls took seventh out of 22 teams.
Mason Wolf and Teddy Meyer each placed third for the Spencer boys.
Wolf went 5-1 at 138 pounds and earned a pin over Hunter Saemisch of Royall in 59 seconds to win the third-place match.
Meyer, wrestling at 165 pounds, finished 3-1 and won a third-place match with a pin in 3:35 over Gary Burt of Adams-Friendship.
Azariah Hoffman (145 pounds) and Anna Becker (235) both went 3-0 to win individual titles for the Spencer girls.
Hoffman won the 145-pound championship match over Sophia Paulson of La Crosse Aquinas 13-6, and Becker pinned Catie Duerst of Westby in 1:15 to take the 235-pound title.
