D.C. Everest scores in final minute to defeat Marshfield boys hockey

WESTON – Cole VanSlyke scored the game-winner with 27 seconds to go to lift the D.C. Everest boys hockey team to a 4-3 win over Marshfield in a Wisconsin Valley Conference contest Tuesday at the Greenheck Fieldhouse.

Cashton Anderson had a goal in the first period for Marshfield, which then fought back from a 3-1 deficit to tie the game in the second period on goals by Blake Meissner and Connor Stefanski before VanSlyke netted the go-ahead goal in the closing minute.

Cole Kenney had two assists for the Tigers (0-5, 0-2 WVC).

Griffen Bunnell made 18 saves in goal for D.C. Everest (5-1, 2-0 WVC), while Marshfield goalie Rahul Dissanayke finished with 34 saves.

Marshfield hosts a nonconference game against Oshkosh on Thursday.
