Auburndale boys basketball knocks off Phillips in battle of undefeated Marawood squads

AUBURNDALE – Keegan Empey scored a career-high 15 points to help lead the Auburndale boys basketball team to a 60-44 win over Phillips in a Marawood Conference crossover game Friday night at Auburndale High School.

Empey was 5-for-6 from the field and at the free throw line to top the Eagles, who are now 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the Marawood South this season.

Blake Raab added 14 points, Peyton Weinfurter scored 11, and Thomas Aue had 10 points and nine rebounds in the win for Auburndale.

J.J. Heikkinen led Phillips (3-1, 1-1 Marawood North) with 13 points.

Auburndale will host Wausau Newman Catholic for a Marawood Conference South Division game Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.
