Spencer/Columbus Catholic/Granton, Auburndale each have third-place finishers at Eau Claire North girls wrestling tournament

EAU CLAIRE – Two Spencer/Columbus Catholic/Granton wrestlers earned top-five finishes at the Eau Claire North Husky Girls Wrestling Invitational on Friday night at North High School.

Azariah Hoffman went 3-1 to finish third at 145 pounds and Anna Becker won three of four matches to take fifth at 235 pounds for Spencer.

Hoffman lost her semifinal match before winning a third-place match over Jasmine Hebert of Auburndale with a pin in 53 seconds.

Becker lost a quarterfinal match, then fought back to take fifth, winning the fifth-place match by pin of Morgan Gormanson of Wisconsin Rapids in 2:28.

Auburndale’s other wrestler, Valencia de la Torre, took third at 132 pounds. She lost a semifinal and rebounded with a 19-3 technical fall win over Addison Gratz-Maag of Eau Claire Memorial in the third-place match.

Wausau West won the team title, with Spencer/Columbus Catholic/Granton and Auburndale tying for 15th.

Spencer/Columbus Catholic/Granton will compete in the boys tournament on Saturday.
