Stratford wrestling finishes 3-2 at Wega Duals

WEYAUWEGA – The Stratford wrestling team went 3-2 to place third at the six-team Wega Duals on Saturday at Weyauwega-Fremont High School.

The Tigers defeated Oostburg 45-25, Omro 65-10 and New London 61-12, and lost to team champion Weyauwega-Fremont 43-30 and Mineral Point 40-25.

Stratford had four wrestlers finish a perfect 5-0 on the day – Trenton Cournoyer (126 pounds), Colin Cournoyer (132), Carter Lueck (215) and Drew Gage (285).

Gage and Lueck each had three pins, and Matthew Kaiser had four pins at 157 pounds and ended up 4-1 in the tournament for the Tigers.

Stratford will host a Marawood Conference quad on Thursday, taking on Chequamegon and Phillips in dual matches.
