SPENCER – The Spencer boys basketball team held off a big run from Nekoosa in the second half and pulled out a 57-54 nonconference win Tuesday night at Spencer High School.
The Rockets bolted out to a 41-23 lead at halftime, but were held to 16 points in the second half as Nekoosa pulled to within a basket before coming up just short.
Breckin Miller led Spencer (4-2) with 14 points, and Sam Bezlyk added 12 points and 19 rebounds for the Rockets.
Finlei Krcmar led Nekoosa (3-3) with 12 points.
Spencer will be back in action Thursday with a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game at home against Colby.
