Stratford boys wrestling wins six individual titles, team crown at Stanley-Boyd Scramble

STANLEY – Stratford won six titles and the team championship at the five-team Stanley-Boyd Pre-Holiday Wrestling Scramble on Friday at Stanley-Boyd High School.

The Tigers finished with 219.5 points to easily win the team title, with Ellsworth finishing a distant second with 129 pounds.

Each weight class was a round-robin among the competitors. Trenton Cournoyer (126 pounds), Colin Cournoyer (132), Lucas Forrest (144), Mathias Kaiser (157), Jack Tubbs (175) and Carter Lueck (215) were individual champions for the Tigers.

Trenton Cournoyer is now 18-0, Colin Cournoyer 17-0 and Lueck 13-0 overall this season.

Auburndale’s Valencia de la Tore won the girls 132-pound title, going 3-0, and Stratford’s Dakota Knetter was first in the girls 126-pound division by winning both of her matches.

Stratford will compete at the Bi-State Classic in La Crosse on Dec. 27-28.
