STRATFORD – Stratford overcame a three-point deficit by outscoring Pittsville 11-4 in the fourth quarter en route to a 32-28 Marawood Conference South Division girls basketball victory on Friday night at Stratford High School.
Stratford led 20-11 at halftime but was outscored 13-1 in the third quarter to fall behind by three heading into the fourth.
However, the Tigers recovered making 6 of 8 free throws over the final 8 minutes to earn the tight win and improve to 6-8 overall and 2-6 in the Marawood South. Pittsville falls to 5-10 and 2-6 in conference.
Hannah Schmitt scored 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead Stratford.
Hannah Marti had 16 points to lead all scorers for the Panthers.
The Tigers play at Marathon on Thursday.
