MADISON – Monona Grove scored twice in the first three minutes of the game and sent the Marshfield boys hockey team to an 8-1 loss in its opening game at the Culver’s Cup at the Hartmayer Ice Arena on Thursday.
Monona Grove (8-4) built a 4-0 lead late in the second period before Marshfield’s Cole Kenney scored the Tigers’ only goal with 30 seconds to go in the period.
Marshfield was unable to recover as the Eagles tacked on four more goals in the third period.
Rahul Dissanayake finished with 27 saves in goal for the Tigers (3-8).
Marshfield will play Ashland at 3:30 p.m. Friday as the three-day tournament continues.
