TOMAHAWK – The Spencer boys basketball team rolled to the title at the Tomahawk Holiday Tournament, winning a pair of games over the weekend.
Spencer edged Montello 77-74 on Friday and roughed up Tomahawk in the championship game 80-45 on Saturday to improve to 6-2 this season.
Sam Bezlyk continued his torrid start to the season for the Rockets, posting big double-doubles in each game. The junior had 20 points and 17 rebounds against Montello, and 25 points and 12 rebounds in the win over Tomahawk.
Weston Nieman added 20 points on the strength of five 3-pointers for Spencer in Friday’s win.
Ben Felgner had 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Rockets against Tomahawk.
Spencer will play a nonconference game at Almond-Bancroft on Thursday.
