MARSHFIELD – Wausau East/Merrill scored twice in the third period to pull past Marshfield 3-1 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference boys hockey game Tuesday at the Marshfield Area Ice Arena.
After a scoreless first period, Zach Pagel scored for the BlueJacks (5-9, 1-4 Wisconsin Valley Conference) 3:48 into the second period.
Marshfield retaliated three minutes later as Cole Kenney scored to tie the game and the score held until the opening minute of the third period when Kanin Jahnke scored to put East/Merrill up for good.
Pagel added another goal midway through the third to finish off the win for East/Merrill.
Neil Mullins had 15 saves in goal for Marshfield (6-9, 0-4 WVC).
East/Merrill goalie Chase Klebenow finished with 17 saves.
Both teams will host Wisconsin Valley Conference games on Thursday as East/Merrill takes on D.C. Everest at Marathon Park in Wausau, and Marshfield will be at home against undefeated Stevens Point.
