Spencer boys basketball slips past Owen-Withee

SPENCER – The Spencer boys basketball team overcame a seven-point halftime deficit and edged Owen-Withee 42-41 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game Tuesday at the Spencer Dome.

The Rockets trailed 23-16 at halftime before storming back to grab the one-point win and send Owen-Withee to its first conference loss.

Weston Nieman had 14 points, Noah Anderson chipped in 10 points, and Sam Bezlyk had eight points and 12 rebounds for Spencer (7-4, 1-2 Cloverbelt East).

Colin Fritz led Owen-Withee (6-3, 2-1 Cloverbelt East) with 19 points and nine rebounds.

Spencer is back in action Friday at Greenwood.
