MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield wrestling team remains undefeated in the Wisconsin Valley Conference dual meet season after a 56-20 win over Stevens Point on Thursday at Marshfield High School.
Marshfield senior Caleb Dennee earned a pin in 1:42 over Dakota Day to win the 175-pound match and set a new program record with his 173rd career victory. Dennee breaks a tie for the record he shared for the past week with Brad Dolezal (2007-11).
Marshfield had six other pins in the victory as it improves to 3-0 in the WVC. Stevens Point is now 1-2.
Carter Tollers (126 pounds), Joe Gianneschi (132), Jayden Landwehr (144), Grayden Rode (157), Haiden Carlson (165) and Ava Gardner (113) also had pins for the Tigers.
Carter Williquette added a technical fall at 120, Kashton Kilty won a 6-1 decision at 138 and Jace Frick won by forfeit at 215 to help the Tigers finish off the victory.
Marshfield will compete at the Holmen Quad on Friday, along with Fennimore and Waunakee. Matches begin at 5 p.m.
