MARSHFIELD – Columbus Catholic freshman Izzy Holz knocked down a pair of free throws with four seconds to go to give the Dons a 40-39 win over Greenwood in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division girls basketball game Thursday at Columbus Catholic High School.
The game was tight throughout with Greenwood holding a 22-19 halftime advantage. The lead went back and forth throughout the second half with the Indians taking a late lead.
Columbus Catholic worked the ball inside to Holz, who was fouled in the lane with four seconds left and she calmly made both free throw attempts to put the Dons back on top.
Greenwood’s last-second heave from half-court fell well short as the Dons walked away with the home win.
Holz, Katelyn Casperson and Gracie Wilczek each scored 11 points to lead Columbus Catholic.
Addison Davidson and Avery Travis both had 10 points for Greenwood.
Both teams are now 7-5 overall and 3-3 in the Cloverbelt East.
Columbus Catholic’s next game is Tuesday at Gilman.
