Columbus Catholic boys basketball drops nonconference game to Pacelli

MARSHFIELD – Stevens Point Pacelli busted open a close game with a 40-point second half and defeated Marshfield Columbus Catholic 71-59 in a nonconference boys basketball game Monday at Columbus Catholic High School.

The Cardinals led 31-28 at halftime before outscoring Columbus Catholic by nine in the second half to pull away and improve to 8-2 this season.

Cam Schurk had 22 points and Braden Flaker 16 to lead Pacelli.

Columbus Catholic sophomore Ben Weiland scored a career-high 23 points and Mac Konieczny added 14 points for the Dons, who fall to 5-6.

Columbus Catholic will be back at home Tuesday with a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game against Owen-Withee starting at 7:15 p.m.
