AUBURNDALE – Sole possession of first place in the Marawood Conference South Division was on the line as Auburndale hosted Stratford in a battle of red-hot boys basketball teams Friday night at Auburndale High School.
Trailing 23-17 at halftime, Auburndale stormed back to clip Stratford 50-46 and post its seventh-straight win, while snapping the Tigers’ seven-game winning streak in the process.
The Eagles outscored Stratford 33-23 in the second half to pull out the win.
Josh Lundgren led the charge for Auburndale, drilling five 3-pointers on his way to a game-high 18 points as the Eagles improve to 12-1 overall and 7-1 in the Marawood South.
Auburndale shot a solid 53 percent from the field (17-for-32) and made eight 3-pointers in all.
Drew Bruesewitz led Stratford (11-2, 6-2 Marawood South) with 12 points and Alec Chapel chipped in 10.
Both teams will host nonconference games on Tuesday as Auburndale plays Stevens Point Pacelli and Stratford takes on Black River Falls.
