AUBURNDALE – Stevens Point Pacelli came into Auburndale on Monday as the No. 2-ranked team in the Wissports.net Division 5 state coaches poll and left with its third loss of the season.
Auburndale held off a late push from the Cardinals to win 61-54 in a nonconference girls basketball game at Auburndale High School.
The win is Auburndale’s 10th in a row as it improves to 15-2 this season. Pacelli is now 13-3.
Lily Bellanti scored eight of her 10 points in the second half to help the Eagles maintain their lead at the end.
Myah Katzenberger finished with a team-high 13 points in the win.
Jaedyn Zdroik led Pacelli with 23 points, which included 12 in the second half.
Auburndale will host Marawood Conference South Division leader Wisconsin Rapids Assumption (13-1), the state’s third-ranked team in Division 5, on Thursday.
