MARATHON – The Stratford boys basketball team stormed back from a 12-point deficit in the second half to defeat Marathon 64-62 in a Marawood Conference South Division game Tuesday night at Marathon High School.
The Tigers trailed 35-23 at halftime and were down by 10 with five minutes to go before a torrid 23-11 run to end the game.
Stratford improves to 13-2 overall and 8-2 in the Marawood South, breaking a second-place tie with Marathon, which falls to 10-6 and 7-3 in conference play.
Drew Bruesewitz scored 22 points on the strength of 11-for-15 shooting from the free throw line and had eight assists to lead the Tigers. Caleb Wrensch, Riley Spindler and Brooks Vanderhoof each added nine points in the win.
Stratford will play a nonconference game at Colby on Friday.
