Varsho leads Marshfield girls basketball past West

WAUSAU – Taylor Varsho scored 25 points to lead the Marshfield girls basketball team to a 52-33 win over Wausau West in a Wisconsin Valley Conference game Tuesday night at Wausau West High School.

The Tigers won for the eighth-straight time and improved to 12-2 overall and 7-0 in the WVC. West falls to 5-10 and 3-5 in conference.

Eleni Seitz added 12 points and a game-high nine rebounds for the Tigers.

Marshfield, which nearly blew a double-digit lead to the Warriors in a game at Marshfield on Jan. 25, had no such problems on Tuesday.

The Tigers jumped out to a 13-4 lead after the first quarter and led 27-13 at halftime. Marshfield maintained its double-digit lead throughout the second half.

Marshfield hosts Stevens Point on Friday night. It is Girls Night Out of Tiger Hoops Club members. All girls are asked to show their Tigers pride and wear they Tiger Hoops Club jerseys to the game. The fifth-grade girls teams will scrimmage during halftime, which will be followed by free pizza for all girls Tiger Hoops members.
